大切な誰かのために心を込め祈る。その願いを叶えるため、自分の取られたくない体の一部をいろいろな方法で工作し、神様に捧げる風習。「サイガサマ」の祭りで、それが奉納される。そして時に、その奉納した工作で作った体の一部が、実際の体から、ひょこっと消えてしまう。そのため、雑賀（サイガ）町には、体の一部を失った人が時折いるという訳だ。密かに愛する人のために祈る。見返りを望まないどころか、自分の体の一部まで捧げてしまう。そして、その失った不自由な体を、淡々と受け入れる。人生の根幹に迫るようなテーマであるのだが、そこを「お隣り近所的」な物語と、親近感のある文体が、こちらの心にスーッと入ってくる。なかなか、素敵なお話しだと思いますよ！

心が芯から疲労する事。これから逃避出来た主人公百合は、ある意味幸せ。逃避が出来ずに、がんじがらめになっている人がどれだけいることか。そして、家族の問題を引きずっている人も、そりゃあ沢山いる。兄弟との葛藤、親との軋轢。何でも、ありだ。本書は、逃避旅行に親のお金で出かけた百合の、回復記というのか、解放記というものである。その中で、姉との軋轢に想いを馳せる。微妙な心の声を、全部きちんと、拾い上げていく西さんの、素晴らしい文章に、きっとのめり込んでいくはず！

ポーランド映画の”Cold War”を見た後、この究極の恋愛小説を読んだ。ああ。。やっぱり私は、日本人。全てがしっくりする。心から共感し、涙する。夏目と間島。会うべくして、出会った二人。濃密な二人だけの時間。それはとても短いものだけど、その豊かさ故に、時間が関係なくなる。”想いを馳せる時間”、何て苦しく、素敵なのだろう。是非、お薦めの一冊。
