Johannes Brahms: Intermezzo No. 1 from Klavierstücke, Op. 119
“It really is marvelous how things pour from him; it is wonderful how he combines passion and tenderness in the smallest of spaces,” Clara Schumann wrote in her diary after receiving the Op. 118 and 119 pieces from Brahms. The first Intermezzo from Op. 119 is poignant and melancholic, but so tender and affectionate. Every note and every rest has warmth and fondness.
