A Movie “Marguerite” 3/20/16

“Marguerite” is a movie directed by Xavier Giannoli and written by Giannoli and Marcia Romano. It is inspired by the life of Florence Foster Jenkins. In Paris, set in the golden twenties, Marguerite Dumont is a wealthy woman with passion in music, especially in opera. She has been studying and practicing singing for all of her life, although she is a horrible singer. She can’t sing in tune, has no sense of rhythm, has very ugly voice, like a frog. But she believes she is a good singer. Both her friends and her husband have kept her fantasy.. The problem starts when she decides to perform in front of a real audience in the big theatre instead of her usual music circle. The movie is sadly very funny. Actually I found youtube recording of real Florence Foster Jenkins, and yes, she is horrible.
