A Movie “Spotlight” tells the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world’s oldest and most trusted institutions, Roman Catholic Church. In 2001, editor Marty Baron of The Boston Globe assigns a team of journalists, a section of the newspaper called “Spotlight”, to investigate allegations against John Geoghan, an unfrocked priest accused of molesting more than 80 boys. Led by editor Walter “Robby” Robinson, reporters Michael Rezendes, Matt Carroll and Sacha Pfeiffer interviewed victims and tried to unseal sensitive documents. The reporters made it their mission to provide proof of a cover-up of sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Church. The director is Thomas McCarthy. Eventually the team discovered close to 90 priests molesting and abusing within the church. This investigation led to nationwide phenomenon to discover many many more priests who have abused and molested in other cities. It is an excellent movie and personally I enjoyed the truth of the journalism.
