A Movie “Bernie” 5/28/12

It is an amazing movie. And it is really based on the true story. I thought, at the beginning, this movie is like the movie “Departure” because it is about the mortuary and Bernie Tiede is a skillful funeral house assistant director. but I was wrong. The story moved on like the movie “Waiting for Guffman” because the small town, Carthage, in TX, is the spot light of “Bernie” (Blaine was the small town in Mid-West in “Waiting for Guffman”), and the main part of the movie is about the interviews from people in those towns. The atmosphere is very much like. But in “Bernie”, the interviews are from real residents in Carthage, and they are very very good. Bernie was very popular, and always willing to help people in Carthage. He participated most likely everything in the town, and befriended with Marjorie Nugent, a rich widow with sour attitude and self-centered mind. She became a dependant on Bernie and started to demand everything after honeymooning with fancy activities, including 1st class flights to vacation places. Suddenly, she disappeared from people’s sight. Jack Black is doing an excellent job portraying Bernie Tiede. At the end of the movie there is a scene Jack Black and Bernie Tiede are talking, and they really look alike. “Bernie” is well made. I used to live in TX, and this movie made me remember many things in TX!. You should watch “Bernie” for an entertainment.
