J. S. Bach: Mass in F Major, BMV 233 at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles 12/26/10
December 27, 2010
I went to listen Bach’s Mass in F Major for Christmas worship at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. I mentioned about this church before during their Bach Festival. This church has a long history of great music making. Some churches are going for more casual direction, like a community center in these days, and I found it is very meaningful to attend a traditional ceremony.
The music was fantastic, the sermon was convincing and meaningful, the Christmas decoration was beautiful, and the whole service was inspirational. The acoustic and the architect of the church reminds me old European churches. The building is a gothic architecture. It was so inspirational to listen through the organ prelude which last about 30 minutes, and it was almost an organ concert. Wayne Foster is a fantastic organ player. It was a wonderful morning, spiritually and musically. I will definitely go back for future services.
